Matériau didactiques

The students read the Polish legend “The Legend of the White Eagle” in form of a script which describes the formation of Poland. They get familiarized with national symbols and the concepts of tribe, nation and emblem and learn about the common cultural roots of Slavic nations. Furthermore, they gain an insight into six foreign languages by analyzing short parts of the legend in these languages.
In a first step, the students talk about the meaning of the legend’s content and about national symbols. They read the script and perform the legend in groups in which every student takes different roles to prevent stereotypical behavior or prejudices against other “nations”. In the next step, they try to identify certain words or sentences of the text in various foreign languages.
The students and the teacher reflect upon the tasks with the help of reflection sheets.
Languages used for the activity: Arabic, Czech, English, French, Russian, Slovakian.

Les élèves lisent la légende polonaise « La légende de l’aigle blanc » présentée sous la forme d’un scénario qui décrit la création de la Pologne. Ils se familiarisent avec les symboles nationaux et les concepts de tribu, nation et emblème et découvrent les racines culturelles communes des nations slaves. Ils ont un aperçu de six langues étrangères en analysant de brèves parties de la légende dans ces langues.
Dans une première étape, les élèves s’expriment à propos du sens du contenu de la légende et à propos des symboles nationaux. Ils lisent le scénario et jouent la légende en groupes, chaque élève prenant différents rôles, ceci devant contribuer à la lutte contre des comportements stéréotypés et les préjugés vis-à-vis d’autres « nations ». Dans l’étape suivante, ils essaient d’identifier certains mots ou certaines phrases du texte dans différentes langues.
Les élèves et l’enseignant(e) réfléchissent sur les tâches à l’aide de fiches spécifiques.
