Teaching material in two parts: "Vornamen I" ("First names I"), worksheets 57-70, and "Vornamen II" ("First names II"), worksheets 71-82. Introduction, methodological discussion and overview of the worksheets indicating the required time. Answer keys to some worksheets (p. 112ff). The worksheets can be used individually, but are designed as a coherent unit. Proposals for project work and games.
"Vornamen I", for pupils aged 10-11 years, focuses on the pupils' first names and the first names of others, their original meaning, and the first names in different languages. In addition to German first names, there are also first names from Poland, Italy, Turkey, Greece, Lebanon, Morocco, Senegal, France, the United States, Russia, Hungary, Bulgaria, Great Britain, as well as Sinti and Arabic first names.
"Vornamen II", for pupils aged 12-13 years, has a historical perspective and discusses international first names, naming and naming rights. It includes, in addition to German, first names in Hebrew, Germanic, Greek, Italian, French, English, Spanish, Latin, Finnish, Nordic, Arabic, Slavic, Turkish, Old High German, Old Irish, Celtic, Chinese, Japanese and Hungarian; popular names in Germany, the USA, Russia and France.
