Teaching and learning materials

This database aims to facilitate teachers access to educational materials relevant to pluralistic approaches to languages and cultures. This way they will be able to help learners appropriate their knowledge, attitudes, and skills as described in the lists of descriptors. The materials, available to download, can be selected according to various criteria: objectives (as expressed by the FREPA descriptors), levels of training, thematic areas, the type of pluralistic approach, and the language of instruction.

Description
Learners discover the value of the present in English while in preparation for the first session, the pupils prepare a set of sentences at home : these sentences include verbs in the Present Tense, then in class they sort and categorise these verbs in such a way as to recognise the value associated to the Present Tense in this language. Then, they discover the functioning of the Present Tense in English : ………………

Finally, in order to identify the value of the Present Tense in context, the teacher mimes and names an action which characterises a job and the student evaluates the validity of the statement by raising a yellow or green card. A subsequent activity to be done individually aims to get students to identify the contradictions expressed in the two forms of the Present and also works on negation). In a final intensive oral exercise which is done in pairs students produce the statements with the different forms : in this game the partner must guess the name of the animal from the two sentences given.
